Our churches are the perfect place to come together to mark life’s big events.

Weddings at St Thomas Church

Weddings

Your wedding day is one of life’s most special and memorable occasions, and we would be honoured to be part of your journey.

Nestled in the heart of Kawakawa, St Thomas Church provides a beautiful and meaningful setting for couples wishing to celebrate their marriage in a Christian church. Our church offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where family and friends can gather to witness and celebrate your commitment to one another before God. St Thomas has been serving the local community for generations and continues to be a place where love, faith, and community come together.

Whether you are a member of our congregation, have a connection to the church, or are simply looking for a traditional church wedding venue, we welcome enquiries from all couples seeking a heartfelt and memorable ceremony.

There is no fee as such; we offer the church and our time as a service, but a suggested donation for the service involving the use of our church is $400. For more information, please contact us.

Christenings

A christening, also known as baptism, is a special occasion that marks the beginning of a person’s journey of faith within the Christian family. It is a joyful celebration that gives thanks for God’s love and blessing while welcoming a child, young person, or adult into the life of the Church.

At St Thomas Church, we are delighted to share this important milestone with families from Kawakawa and the surrounding communities. Whether you are a regular churchgoer, have family connections to the church, or are simply exploring the Christian faith, we warmly welcome enquiries about christenings and baptisms.

For parents bringing a child for christening, the service is an opportunity to give thanks for the gift of your child and to make promises about nurturing them in faith, with the support of family, friends, godparents, and the wider church community. It is a meaningful and memorable occasion that often brings generations together in celebration.

Christenings can take place during one of our regular church services, allowing the congregation to share in the celebration, or at another suitable time by arrangement. If you are considering a christening or would like to learn more about baptism at St Thomas Church, please contact us.

Funerals and memorials

Funerals

The loss of a loved one is one of life’s most difficult experiences. At St Thomas Church, we are committed to offering care, comfort, and support to individuals and families as they navigate a time of grief and remembrance.

A funeral is an opportunity to gather to give thanks for the life of a loved one, to honour their memory, and to commend them into God’s loving care. It is also a time to find strength and hope through faith, family, and community.

We understand that every person is unique, and every funeral service should reflect the life being remembered. Our priest will work closely with you and your family to create a service that is personal, respectful, and meaningful. Whether you would like traditional prayers and hymns, favourite readings, personal tributes, or a combination of these elements, we will help guide you through the planning process with compassion and understanding.

St Thomas Church provides a peaceful and welcoming setting where family and friends can gather to celebrate a life well lived.

If you have recently experienced a bereavement or would like to discuss funeral arrangements in advance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
